Innovation: Defined

in·no·va·tion
/ˌinəˈvāSH(ə)n/
noun
the act or process of introducing new methods, ideas or products

Since the turn of the century, the term innovation has been touted as a one stop shop solution to many of the world’s pressing issues. The most well known manifestations of this take the form of technological innovations, such as the invention of new renewable energies and the growth of big data. But innovation is much more than this. It is imbued in the very fabric of the cities in which we live–from urban design of places to processes of public engagement.

CUI is leading, facilitating and advancing the creation of new methods, ideas and technologies to shape sustainable cities. This blog will serve as a drawing board for thinking about the dimensions and manifestations of collaborative innovation aimed at addressing social, economic and environmental challenges in urban areas.
